Day 3 - Catching Rainbows

Uploaded by Laura Sheehy

My fascination with light continued today. I didn't have my camera with me, so I captured this with my cell phone camera. I love prisms, and how the light dances when they move. This one is hanging from my rearview mirror. I took several shots; I wasn't sure what they would look like. I'm very happy I took the time to see if I could catch the light just right. I love catching rainbows!!!!

Day 2 - Fascinated by Light

Uploaded by Laura Sheehy

I don't know about you, but I am fascinated by light: candlelight, sunlight, refracting light, prisms, etc. I love trying to capture light with my camera in fun and unusual ways. I received this magnificent candle as a Christmas present. The soft glow radiates as the light plays through the holder. The crackle finish provides multiple possibilities for picture taking.

Day 1 - New Year Starting

Uploaded by Laura Sheehy

The new year is starting today, and I have decided to try again to maintain a photo a day. Project 365 starts anew. Today is starting fresh with black-eyed peas for luck and chicken noodle soup for the infection I'm fighting. I am looking forward to learning, growing, sharing and having fun!

An Irish Blessing for the New Year:
May the new year bring
The warmth of home and hearth to you.
The cheer and goodwill of friends to you,
The hope of a childlike heart to you.
The joy of a thousand angels to you,
The love of the Son and God's peace to you.

    Day 35 - Whoooshh

    Uploaded by Laura Sheehy

I love San Francisco's BART! Riding the rail to get everywhere is easy. I don't have to worry about renting a car or finding a place to park it. Watching the lighting change is fun too. As different outside lights pass, the inside blur changes. After several shots, and looks from other passengers, I was able to finally catch this yellow-orange glow.

    Day 34 - Swimming Upstream

    Uploaded by Laura Sheehy

I only had one goal in mind: to go swimming. The warning signs were read and understood. I was ready. However, today was not going to be an easy day to get into the pool. My pool key did not work! I walked to the office, and found out the locks had been changed. I did not believe this would present a challenge. The manager said she didn't have any spare keys. But, maybe the resident who had turned in some keys had a pool key. She also had multiple keys on a key ring. So off I went again. I tried all of the keys, more than I could easily count. None of the keys worked. Next came the handyman. He had a ring of keys, but none fit the pool lock. The reason I wanted to go swimming was how high the temperature was. I was sweating in my swimsuit, which is never a pleasant feeling. The handyman said he had a pool key in his apartment. So off he went. He returned with a key that worked! Finally I could cool off. But I had to go back to the office later to get a key after he made copies. After all the sweating, I was determined to enjoy the cool water, which I did!

    Day 33 - Resting Workers

    Uploaded by Laura Sheehy

Even the signs get a break now and then! But, even at rest, the lights still winked. I drove past these posts for a few days before I finally took the time to capture them on film. Blinking lights were a challenge. How to catch them just so. I kept trying, and selected the one above as the best. I wanted the blinking lights to be on but not on all at once.

Day 32 - Reach for the Sky

    Uploaded by Laura Sheehy

This picture could be one that was taken afar, zoomed in to show the cactus trees and mountains, could be... In fact, the cactus is a small plant that was on a ledge, and the "mountains" in the foreground are two rocks that sat beside the plant. The lighting and focus point determine what your eye might see: a common occurrence in other areas of our lives as well. What we understand or believe we see is frequently impacted by where our focus is and how much we know.

    Day 31 - Soaring

    Uploaded by Laura Sheehy

The sky was gloomy, but the birds were singing. I love watching birds soar through the air. Even with speeding up my camera, I find it hard to catch the moment of flight. The birds would take wing and be gone by the time I snapped a picture. Luckily I was able to capture this one. The birds rested easily on the phone wires. More birds landed and took flight as I watched. They didn't stay long, leaving behind a feeling of restlessness.
