Day 8 - Water, Water, Smelly Water

Uploaded by Laura Sheehy

Keeping grass green is a challenge in Phoenix. Drought conditions remain year after year in the desert. So, why is there so much water in this schoolyard? With a canal system, irrigation waters are used to water the yard. Grassy areas are built with a berm around them so that water can sit for 2-3 days to have a chance at absorption. The smell can leave a little bit to be desired; a small price to pay for a green yard.
